No Equality for Women According to FDA

‘Female Viagra' rejected by FDA panel - Sexual health- msnbc.com

The FDA Panel today rejected a drug referred to as the "Female Viagra". Evidentally womens libido is not as important as men's. Just one more example of the inequity of male vs female in the health care system and in the eyes of a government agency.

The FDA Panel gave as it's reason that the side effects outweigh the benefits. Side effects were listed as:

fatigue, depression and fainting spells

Just for arguments sake, let's look at the side effects of Male Viagra to compare:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; fainting; fast or irregular heartbeat; memory loss; numbness of an arm or leg; one-sided weakness; painful or prolonged erection; ringing in the ears; seizure; severe or persistent dizziness; severe or persistent vision changes; sudden decrease or loss of hearing; sudden decrease or loss of vision in one or both eyes.

Does this seem wrong to anyone else?  Forget the fact that Viagra is covered by most health plans while many still won't cover birth control pills.  Forget that without the Viagra we may not need so many birth control pills.

I'm just saying...
