We are so tired...

Jerry & I
Jerry & I are so exhausted all the time.  We've been sleeping on the air mattress since July 24 and it has gotten very old.  We ordered our new mattresses on Aug 4, but they are still en route.

We slept really well at the hotel when we first got here on Aug 1 & 2, but now, 2 weeks later, we haven't had a good nights sleep since and it's catching up with us.  We barely have the energy to do anything.  Hopefully the mattresses will be here by the end of the week, but I'm not holding my breath.

For Laura, in remembrance of Paul Trammell 7/10/76 - 8/9/11

Paul & Laura Trammell
On Wednesday as the movers were unloading our belongings and Jerry & I were starting a new chapter in our lives, a dear friend from childhood was closing a chapter of hers with the loss of her only brother this after a brief illness.

Our lives took seperate paths and communication has been intermitent through the years as we fell in and out of touch. After 20+ years I may have stopped knowing her... but I still love her very much because of who she was to me then.  My thoughts are with her as she deals with this loss, cares for her nieces and takes on sole responsibility for caring for her seriously ill parents.

I hope during the struggles ahead she allows herself to enjoy life to the fullest and to remember

Our first 24 hours in Richmond

After last night, I was ready to throw in the towel!

Today was better. In our first 24 hours we met 2 tow truck drivers, one roadside assistance guy, the staff at both our local Pep Boys Auto Shop and Enterprise Car Rental. Busy first day!

It did finally turn around. We got a new tire and Pep Boys were able to match our existing locking lugnuts to the other tires because the ones on the tire had been double threaded, whatever the hell that means.

30 minutes after Enterprise picked me up to go rent a car, our car transporter Jeff called. He was 37 miles away even though he wasn't due until tomorrow so we got Jerry's car a day early. Took a while to get it off the truck because the car behind him didn't have enough gas to start!

Our first 4 hours in Richmond...

We made it in one piece...

Unfortunately that is the only good news.  30 minutes after arriving, the car we came in, blew a tire, we were missing a tool for the locking lugnuts, so roadside assistance came out.  They put the donut on the wheel, but a lugnut was stripped and with the amount of weight in the car it couldn’t be driven on the donut.

We then called a tow truck, but had no place to tow the car, being 9:00 PM, he towed us to a hotel, where we are currently stranded.
