Albannach - Taken from my iPhone

HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY MOM!!

From your middle Son and favorite Daughter-in-Law

You let me know you love me
In so many different ways.
You make me feel important
With encouragement and praise

You're always there when I need you
To comfort and to care.
I know I'm in your thoughts;
Your love follows me everywhere.

Thank you for all you've done
And given so generously.
I love you, my wonderful mother;
You're a heaven-sent blessing to me.

You would have gotten a Native Union Moshi Pop Phone if you had sent me your address!  Now you'll have to wait for Christmas!

How I'm spending my day

Since the office is quiet today, I am going to spend it typing all the Rolodex cards into Outlook.
Seems a shame, I used to love the big, round Rolodex card files, but time moves on...

The Cutest Hand Bag Animals!!

Mazen Saggar / Louis Vuitton
My personal favorites are the dogs and the armadillo.  Click the link at the bottom for the original article
Very creative use of the different patterns and colors!

Louis Vuitton just went wild.
The luxury brand's logo-boasting handbags were recently fashioned into 29 creative critters, thanks to Deyrolle, the Paris taxidermy store with ties to high-end designers. To mark the brand's centennial, artist Billie Achilleos used Vuitton's pricey coin purses, key fobs and clutches to design the adorable sculptures, including a beaver, a cat, and yes, an iguana.
"Have you ever seen anything so cute, outside of little doll-sized teacups and six-week-old puppies?" wrote Glamour.com writer Susan Cernek of the leather-bound creatures. No, we haven't! And yes, we want!

Couple married 72 years die holding hands

Behind tragedy, this is the sweetest story to cap off a long life.
I hope Jerry & I go like this.
I couldn't live a day without him and he says he would be devastated without me.

DES MOINES, Iowa  — An Iowa couple married for 72 years died holding hands in a Des Moines hospital within 70 minutes of each other last week after a car accident that also injured another couple.
"They're very old-fashioned. They believed in marriage 'til death do you part," Dennis Yeager, the son of Gordon and Norma Yeager, told KCCI.com.

The accident that claimed Gordon, 94, and Norma Yeager, 90, happened Oct. 12, when the couple left their State Center home for a drive shortly after 8 a.m. At the intersection of Highway 30 and Jessup Avenue, just west of Marshalltown, Gordon pulled "away from the stop sign and failed to yield to a westbound vehicle," according to Sgt. Joel Ehler of the Iowa State Patrol.

Halloween Costume

Your Halloween costume came to my house by mistake today.

Sorry, I opened it.

It was a rooster mask and a bag of lollipops.

Going as a cock sucker again I see!

HAPPY 5th ANNIVERSARY TO MY BABY BROTHER AND BEST LITTLE SISTER!

5 years ago today, my baby brother snuck off to the courthouse and married a very sweet girl named Valerie.

He couldn't have chosen a better girl to bring into the family.  Over these past couple years, and especially 2011,  she has filled a space in my heart and my life as a sister I have always wanted!

I wish you guys all the best in the world and look forward to seeing you much more often now that we live on the same coastline!

I love the both of you more than I can express in words and hope you know that not a day goes by that you and Logan are not in my hearts.

It's Official - We Have Located the Stupidest Person in America

**********WARNING************
This video is very painful to watch.
Do not watch if you are near firearms as you will want to hold one to your head and pull the trigger!

In addition to the many things she rambles about is the problem with slavery on the East Coast.  Hello?  Exactly what century does she think this is?  She also thinks that food should be free, because land is free....

Tea, Earl Grey, Hot!

Steve Jobs cartoons that made me chuckle this week...

Fitbit Wireless Activity Tracker? iPhone/iPad App? Track average speed?

I have a friend that swears by this.  I'm interested in hearing about it from anyone that has used it or maybe an alternative.

I also have an iPhone and iPad and would be interested in hearing about any apps that are useful for tracking activity.  I would like to be able to just carry my iPhone and have  reading of steps taken, distance traveled and most importantly, average speed.

The First unOfficial Michelle Drake Browning, MMA Referee, Fan Club!!

First Female MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) Referee in Texas!!

I have known Michelle Drake Browning since 7th grade.  She is wonderful, vibrant person with a sarcastic sense of humor (which is why I love her).  Attached is her first Radio Interview as well as the shows first ever interview with a MMA referee.

We are all very proud of everything she has accomplished.  I can't wait for the day I can say "I knew her when...".  She is getting closer.  Last week she was recognized on the street for the first time and was asked to pose for a picture, so she is already getting rolling!

Read her first interview from 7/11/11 and listen to her first radio interview from 10/12/11 after the jump (click Read More)

Meds working pretty well on the tremors

Well over the last few months the medication has really helped the tremors to the point where they have become almost non existent.

On occasion I still get "twitches" of either the rectus muscles that control the eye or the procerus muscles around the eye.  I'm not really sure which one is doing the twitching since they're stacked on top of each other.  I don't think they're noticeable as more than a small flutter to anyone looking at me so that's good.  Best of all I can write anytime I want to without my hand shaking too much to control the pen.  Yay!

Keeping Fruits and Veggies Fresh So You Only Have to Shop Once a Week

Jerry & I like to eat salads almost everyday as a meal with some chicken or as a side with pasta.  We like to have salad on hand, but we don't like going to the grocery store more than once a week, and we don't even like going that often.

Jerry also likes having apples, oranges and other fruit for munching, but it seems like stuff always goes bad so we end up throwing it away, which in turn keeps us from buying more, because we don't want it to go bad, and so goes the vicious circle...

One thing we figured out was that if we keep all of our salad ingredients separate, they stay fresher longer.  So now, the middle shelf of our fridge looks like a salad bar.  We just mix it up by the bowl as we want it.  The one thing we were having trouble keeping fresh were the mushrooms.  Thankfully my brilliant husband remembered something he saw on the food channel that said storing mushrooms in a brown paper bag keeps them fresh.  Throw them in the Crisper drawer and you'll have them all week.  I love having fresh mushrooms for cooking.  Viola!  Now I can buy the big pack of mushrooms without worrying.

Our 2 month-a-versary in Richmond!

Today marks our second month in Richmond.  In honor of our 2 month anniversary in Richmond I surprised Jerry with his and hers walking sticks for hiking.  Jerry had really been wanting one for when we go through the wooded trails at the park to help keep balance on the uneven hills and rocks.

So far it has been great!  I can't believe I'm finally back on the east coast!

I start my new job on Monday, we're out hiking, walking or riding our bicycles several times a week.
