A Roosevelt Rough Riders Journey with MS

A dear friend from HS has been diagnosed with MS this week.  Such is the strong woman she is that she decided to start a blog to document her journey.

I have no doubts that she will be dancing again in no time based on will power alone.

My MS Travelogue

My curiosity about this illness has definitely been piqued.  Three people that I considered myself close to at some point in my life have been diagnosed with MS; and these are only ones I know about.  From a small sampling of 150 family and friends, 2% might not seem high, but it does to me.

Virginians and Their Vanity Plates

One thing we noticed relatively soon after moving to Virginia is that it seems like everyone has vanity license plates!  Evidently, you aren't anyone until you have vanity plates.

There are some very creative plates out there and the greatest thing of all is that Virginia doesn't appear to enforce any type of censorship so you never know what you'll read!

Here are a few of my favs and a link to the top 100 nationwide:

I can paint my own nails again!!

It may not sound like a big deal, but it does mark a milestone for me.After almost 2 years of experimenting with different combinations of drugs and dosages, the tremors in my hands have finally subsided enough that on most days, I can give my self a manicure without painting my entire hand!

Imagine a day without a Mexican

A very interesting article I came across on CNN.

Imagine a day without a Mexican - CNN.com

(CNN) -- One day, California wakes up and every single Latino has inexplicably disappeared. No business owner, doctor, nurse, soldier, teacher, entertainer, athlete or politician can be found. No bus driver, farm worker, cook, gardener or nanny. All gone. California -- the ninth largest economy in the world -- grinds to a halt because Latinos have vanished. Chaos and tragedy follow. This scenario is what Sergio Arau's satiric film, "A Day Without a Mexican," explores.

This modern-day fable provides a cautionary tale on the assumptions we make about the 11 million unauthorized immigrants who live and work in America every day.

How to Score Cheap Airfare

For the full article :  Finding Cheap Airfare

Before you do anything, sign up for free airfare alerts
I'm a fan of this service, obviously, as founder of Airfarewatchdog, but seriously, why do all the work hunting down a low airfare yourself when you can have someone else do it for free?
Many airfare search and listing sites, such as Travelocity.com,Yapta.com, TripAdvisor.com/Flights, Bing.com/travel (and, of course, Airfarewatchdog.com) offer e-mailed airfare alerts when prices go down. This is just a partial list; do a browser search for "airfare alerts" to see what's available.

Chuckle for the Day - A week in the life of IT Tech Support

Monday

8:05am
User called to say they forgot password. Told them to use password retrieval utility called FDISK. Blissfully ignorant, they thank me and hang up. God, we let the people vote and drive, too?

8:12am
Accounting called to say they couldn't access expense reports database. Gave them Standard Sys Admin Answer #112, "Well, it works for me." Let them rant and rave while I unplugged my coffeemaker from the UPS and plugged their server back in. Suggested they try it again. One more happy customer...

8:14 am
User from 8:05 call said they received error message "Error accessing Drive C." Told them it was an OS problem. Transferred them to microsupport.

11:00 am
Relatively quiet for last few hours. Decide to plug support phone back in so I can call my girlfriend. Says parents are coming into town this weekend. Put her on hold and transferred her to janitorial closet down in basement. What is she thinking? The "Myst" and "Doom" nationals are this weekend!

11:34 am
Another user calls (do they ever learn?). Says they want ACL changed on HR performance review database so that nobody but HR can access database. Tell them no problem. Hang up. Change ACL. Add @MailSend so performance reviews are sent to */ALL.

12:00 pm
Lunch

3:30 pm
Return from lunch.

Bracken Bat Cave - New Braunfels, Tx

I would highly recommend this!

Jerry and I were fortunate enough to be able to have a Champagne Picnic here several years ago with BCI founder, Dr. Merlin Tuttle, to watch the emergence and it was amazing!  Definitely an experience you won't soon forget.
If you’re thinking it will be just like the Congress Bridge in Austin, you are in for a treat!  The emergence actually causes a nice breeze there's so many of them.

Holy bat cave! New exhibit puts millions of bats on display
MSN.com

Bats emerge from the Bracken Bat Cave in New Braunfels, Texas.

The public will finally get to see a natural, nightly show that’s totally batty.

Bracken Cave, the Texas home of the world’s largest bat colony, is open for public tours for the very first time.

From April through October, millions of Mexican free-tailed bats move into the cave, which sits on 697 acres of protected land near New Braunfels, Texas. The summer gathering creates one of the largest concentrations of mammals on earth.

“We haven’t actually counted them all, but estimates are somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 million bats,” said Fran Hutchins, Bracken Bat Cave coordinator for Bat Conservation International (BCI), which owns the property.

Adding a New Feel to an Old Bedroom

Spring is here and I am thoroughly enjoying having the windows open and fresh air.  Seems like the perfect time to change the feel of the bedroom.

Adding a New Feel to an Old Bedroom

There are some really basic things that everyone should take the time to do within their bedroom before they get started redecorating. The first thing you'll want to do, is give your room a good vacuuming- get into each nook and cranny, open some windows, and get the air flowing.

The Effects of Mixing Your Booze!

My Sisters in Law and the Wizard of Oz

So, when I was ordering my sister-in-law an awesome pair of pink shoes with little shiny, silver spikes, it occurred to me that my Sisters in Law are just like the Wizard of Oz!

Let me explain...

Skin Care in Your 30's

In 30s our skin starts to produce less collagene which causes formation of mimic wrinkles. Those are deeper than just dry lines and are harder to get rid of. Besides cells' turnover in the skin slows down. This results in a dull tired complexion. Some other factors contribute to all of the symptoms mentioned above include stress, free radicals, bad diet, not enough excercise or sleep etc.

Look for anti-aging skincare products that will provide the following

- moisturize and prevent dehydration
- improve radiance
- help cells turnover
- protect agains free radicals
- protect agains UV light

The following ingredients will deliver the effects mentioned above:
