Call me a sentimental fool, but Jerry & I are so close, I couldn't imagine living without him.
Though not co-dependent, our lives do pretty much revolve around each other.  It's been that way for 15 years and each year it gets stronger.

This story was so sweet I had to share it.  It is a real life "The Notebook" even down to the wife's Alzheimer's.

By all accounts, Aurlo Bonney should have been the first to die.

Once a formidable middle school principal, he had a series of strokes over the last few years. The last one, in
March, stole the 92-year-old’s final vestiges of independence, trapping him in bed and robbing him of his once clear and confident voice. But Virginia, his wife of 65 years, was in relatively good physical health. It was her mind that was losing ground to Alzheimer’s disease. But even as her past and future faded around her, Aurlo remained at the heart of her life, crystal clear.

In hindsight, says their family, it makes sense that on June 11, 2008, when Virginia died, Aurlo was there to watch over her, just as he always had. And, though no one expected it at the time, it also made sense that just eight days after Virginia passed, after Aurlo had laid her to rest and done all the last things he could for her, he also quietly
died.

So Jerry and I have talked and decided that we are not giving our Pomeranian, Cupid, all the exercise he needs.  He is a Pomeranian with the energy and athleticism of a Retriever.

We are looking for home with an active person, couple or family that will play frisbee and fetch with him, take him on walks and runs every day so he is more happy and less bored.  Barbara from Phabulous Poms  is helping us because in addition to being one of the nicest people I've met in a very long time, she is a also a breeder of show poms and shows her own dogs as well.

We will only home him after we meet the family and they must be in drop off range of Richmond, VA, so we can make sure it is an appropriate environment.  We are in no hurry and will only agree to adopt him out if we both agree that the potential adopter seems ok.

Richmond, Virginia

Richmond's rich and accessible Civil War history surpasses that of any other city. While the Southern white history of the Civil War has always been well-preserved in the heroic statues along Monument Avenue and in institutions like the White House and Museum of the Confederacy, the city has recently taken pains to better document the African-American experience, most significantly with the Slave Trail.

The walking tour includes the sites of slave markets, the notorious Lumpkin's Slave Jail (called the Devil's Half-Acre for its brutal treatment of inmates), the still-active farmers' market at Shockoe Bottom and streets where a visiting Lincoln was met by hundreds of cheering freed slaves.

Stop at the American Civil War Center in the former Tredegar Iron Works, which clad Confederate ships and forged artillery. A nearby pedestrian bridge crosses the James River to eerie Belle Isle, site of a prison where captured Union soldiers were held.
